Current Record: 4-2
Game: Dec. 16 our first home game vs. Kingsburg
Score: 44 - 30 WIN
Overall Stats:
4/7 FT's (57%)
*35 vs. 21 Kingsburg boards
*37 S/A's vs. 26 TO's
Player of the Game: Kirbe
Why her?: She came alive, & just played good basketball. 4 pts., 7 steals, 4 rebounds
Summary:
A lot of players showed up to play the long, slower game this night.
I looked up in the first quarter and thought it was half time!
Many players contributed to the victory and we're starting to really get good at our press traps and steals.
It seemed Kingsburg was not ready to play as compared to how we saw them play @ the Madera tournament.
They will be in our league next year too.
Side notes:
The Selma Tournament we were scheduled to play in this weekend was flopped.
Apparently, some major miscommunication between them and our A.D.
So we are off until Dec. 27th practice, and so forth, with a tournament Dec. 30th, Jan. 2 and 3.
Until next entry!

We have a really cool team pic I want to put up from Mrs. W, but we need the padres permission (I hope). Otherwise, individual peeps pics perhaps on Tuesday's (Dec. 16) home game.
Current Record: 3-2
Madera Tournament Record: 2-2, approximate place 11th out of 16.
Game: Dec. 13 @ Madera Tourney vs. Kerman
Score: 46-9 WHOPPING WIN
Overall Stats: 4/7 FT's (57%), *24 steals/assists vs. TO's, *34 to 18 outrebounding them, 8 of 10 players scored.
Player of the Game: Katrina
Why her?: She had 14 pts., had (approx.) 5 steals (19 total today), 4 assists, and led the team hustling all over the court.
Summary: There we go! Way to represent in the league with this Kerman win.
We were pretty much up by 15 or more the whole game. It got kind of sloppy, bippy in spurts, but overall our pressure was too much for the Lions!
On a side note, there was an exciting adventure to IHOP. One "peanutted pancake" that threatened our sophomore BRA intialled chick. Also, BRA #2 intials got her food last. Such sadness.
Quickly to Wal*Mart for some, others elsewhere and we're back to the "South Gym" for our final game.
P.S. Certain individuals and "company" lost their "guardian" at the Wal* and got real, real scared. They had the authorities page a special, awesome person to their rescue. So scary for them.
Negatives:
1. Only one stat friend could join us, but ankle girl helped us today.
2. Even though we outrebounded them, we need more "official" boxing out!
Positives:
1. Met steal/assists vs. TO goal.
2. Outrebounded them! We got good rebounding position.
3. We made our first presence known in the league.
Game: Dec. 13 @ Madera Tourney vs. Yosemite
Score: 21-43 LOSS
Overall Stats: 9/13 FT's (69% almost goal met), *34 vs. 34 TO ratio, *27 to 21 outrebounding them--excellent!
Player of the Game: KZ & TV
Why hers?:
KZ had 5 of our 21 pts., played good all around (2nd game too)
TV came alive with defense, hit the tre, and had 3 steals.
Summary: WHOA! Too early for us non-birds! Couldn't wake up, too much zombie-ness.
Yosemite was sharp and was an average of 3 inches taller than each one of us.
Just couldn't bring it together.
Negatives:
1. Morning.
2. 27 TO's in first half! YIKES!
Postives:
1. End of 3rd & through 4th quarter we woke up and defense carried us.
2. We outrebounded them (*goal met).
3. Our defense makes things happen.
Current Record: 3-2
Madera Tournament Record: 2-2, approximate place 11th out of 16.

Game: Dec.12 @ Madera JV Tourney vs. Fresno High School
Score: 35-26 WIN
Overall Stats: Team FT%=5/14 (36%), *24 steals/assists vs. 13 TO's, *30 rebs. vs. Fresno's 23 boards.
Player of the Game: Roslyn
Why her?: 9 boards (10 vs. Clovis tonight too), 7 pts., she took it hard to the hoop and really played hard and heads up!
Summary: Wooo!!! Total turn around.
A little odd waiting for this game, with pizza and bathrooms a 1/2 mile walk away.
Sanford and SM got the last pizzas. Too bad, so sad....all yous!
KZ's mom helped out and drove! Excellent Suburban and large "nice" van scored for the 15 mins. drive to Madera.
We just flat out clicked this second game tonight. Everyone in and out, in and out, and our "OHIO" press was of the highest quality yet this year.
Not to mention, our better patience and passes up the floor.
Nichole and Danielle started heading closer and closer to that middle press steal center! Awesome job guard trappers too!
Negatives:
1. 36% free throws need work.
2. Too many people hiding behind the defense! Make your presence known!
Positives:
1. 7 out of 10 people scored this game (KM high scorer w/ 10 pts.)
2. TV and KZ hit some treys, both wings and posts got some good looks and jumpers.
3. We met 2 of our team goals: steals vs. TO's, and out rebounding the other team.
Score: 35-26 WIN

Game: Dec.12 @ Madera JV Tourney vs. Clovis West
Score: 26-38 LOSS
Overall Stats: Team free throw %=4/11 (36%), 13 steals/assists vs. 20 TO's, *30 rebounds vs. 27 rebounds.
Player of the Game: KV
Why her?: 5 rebounds, 2 steals, sweet passes up the court, 10 pts.
Summary: 2nd game of the year, ooooo.....ROUGH!, rough, and more rough all about the floor.
We just couldn't get into the flow this game. Our offense got better and farther along thoughout and to the end of the game, though.
Our press on the other hand, yikes!
Last comment: THEY WERE LARGE OPPONENTS!
Negatives:
1. Still down an ankle kid, one official sicky, and a couple recovering sickies.
2. COULD NOT REBOUND for the life of us.
Positives:
1. Less turnovers than 1st game.
2. Somehow we outrebounded those giants.
3. 12 defense was quite consisitent.
Score: 26-38 LOSS

Game: Dec. 8 @ Mariposa
Score: 39-33 WIN
Overall Stats: Team free throw % =13/23 (57%), 39 assists vs. 27 turnovers (*goal met)
Player of the Game: Katrina
Why her?: She played her heart out with 6 points, 5 defensive boards and 2 offensive, 7 steals, 3 assists.
Summary: Our first "official" game this fine year of 2003 was up in the mountains of Mariposa.
The team travels in vans driven by Sanford the III and my Asst. Coach. Superb driving in vans circa 1977, it was a quick rolling drive through the hills.
Regardless of ridiculous Mariposa school ground layouts and other rudenesses, we only had to stand in the 30 degree wind beating weather for about 10 mins.
Then we shared a wonderful tea with the other team in the SAME LOCKER ROOM.
The team was quite jittery and excited, as well as us coaches.
We ran around with all other chickens with heads cut off, and were out of "time outs" by the beginning of the 4th quarter. And in the end, free throws sealed our first victory.
Negatives:
1. Sadly one of our friends turned her ankle, and several players fell ill.
2. We barely ran any offense, and could not run our press worth a dime.
Positives:
1. Defense in the second half: awesome!
2. A frosh post, Nichole was on fire with 9 points and 9 rebounds. In fact, as the coach I have decided that she deserves "Co-Player of the Game" and will be recorded pictorially along side of our player of the game.
3. Everyone played as hard as they could.
Team Goals (for your reference):
1. Win the league OUTRIGHT!
2. Win @ least one tournament.
3. Out rebound the other team 20 or more of our games.
4. Turnover vs. Steal/Assist ratio in the positive for 20 or more games.
5. Average 70% free throws as a team.
Score: 39-33 WIN
